Ben Gurion University, act against the incitement of Prof. Bareli
Updated: Nov 24
We appealed to the heads of Ben Gurion University with a demand to take steps following an inflammatory article published by a university faculty member, Prof. Avi Bareli, in "Israel Hayom". The article widely incites against an entire civilian population, calls the Arab society "a society that worships death and exalts the miracle of murder", incites against Muslims, Arabs and Palestinians between the Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea, and even says that "there is no escape that they will suffer" – that is, it legitimizes violence against the innocent. For the safety of everyone on campus, especially in this tumultuous time when Arab students are severely threatened, the university's silence in the face of such statements by faculty members sends an irresponsible and dangerous message. Publicly disavow the words of Prof. Bareli, in order to protect us all.
